Dental Services - Initial Consultation

We will make your first visit to our clinic as pleasant as possible. You will be greeted by one of our reception staff that will invite you to sit in our comfortable waiting room. We have a wide variety of magazines and dental literature.

Once in the dental-chair you may either listen to the music of your selection or choose from a directory of entertainment with our modern DVD Goggles. Our kids especially like watching an episode of the Simpsons when having fissure sealants applied.

We ask all new patients to arrive ten minutes before their scheduled appointment. This allows time to fill in some paperwork such as a confidential medical questionnaire.

Alternatively you may download, print and complete the necessary forms from our website>>.

Once on clinic a detailed dental examination will be carried out. This will entail the following:

Examination of each tooth for signs of dental disease such as tooth decay or gum disease.

Photo analysis – with the aid of our Oral cameras you will be able to view your mouth on a screen attached to the dental chair. Understanding of your mouth has never been so easy

Oral cancer screen. Unfortunately oral cancer is on the increase in the UK and we have a policy of thorough assessment of all hard and soft tissues of the mouth at each exam. Referrals for further tests or to an appropriate specialist will be arranged when necessary.

Occlusal assessment i.e.. the study of your bite and how the teeth meet together, how they slide over one another and the how the jaw joints are functioning.

Special investigations e.g. X-rays (radiographs) that aid further diagnosis and treatment planning

Discussion of the clinical findings and the treatment options available.

Finally a written cost estimate will be provided. Appointments will then be made to best suit your convenience.

If the treatment is of a complex nature, further information such as SLR Digital photographs and study models may also need to be taken at this first visit.

It may be then necessary to organise a subsequent appointment to discuss the findings and potential treatment options. Prior to that second visit, a written report may be sent directly to the patient, allowing consideration of the findings.

At all times during this first visit and through subsequent appointments we endeavour to keep our clients fully informed. We feel that this is of great importance in allowing the patient to make a decision on what is the best treatment for them. ●●●
